Ulka Agarwal, MD
Psychiatrist, Pine Rest Behavioral Health System
Former Director of Clinical Research / Chief Medical Officer, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine
Ulka Agarwal, MD is a board-certified physician, specializing in psychiatry, integrative medicine and collaborative care. From her home office in Washington, D.C., she provides tele-psychiatry and collaborative care consultation for the Pine Rest Behavioral Health System, in Grand Rapids MI.

Dr. Agarwal is the former Chief Medical Officer and Director of Clinical Research for Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, where she designed and led clinical trials in conjunction with Dr. Neal Barnard, researching the effects of plant-based diets on chronic illnesses and mental health. She authored or co-authored seven publications in peer-reviewed medical journals reporting on this work, dealing with obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, diabetic neuropathy, cancer, migraine, dementia, depression, anxiety and iron deficiency.

Dr. Agarwal completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Washington, and is a graduate of Dr. Andrew Weil’s Integrative Medicine Fellowship through the University of Arizona. She also received a Plant-based Nutrition certificate from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, and previously was recognized with a Dean’s Award from The Chicago Medical School, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.
