Yami Cazorla-Lancaster, DO MPH MS FAAP DipABLM NBC-HWC, universally referred to as "Dr. Yami", earned her Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, where she also received Master of Public Health and Master of Science in Clinical Research and Education degrees.  She went on to complete a General Pediatrics Residency with a Primary Care Track at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and is a board certified Pediatrician and Lifestyle Medicine physician who has further been honored as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  She champions the power of plant-based diets for the prevention of chronic disease, and is author of the highly regarded “A Parent’s Guide to Intuitive Eating:  How to Raise Kids Who Love to Eat Healthy”, providing a fresh and reassuring approach to a child's feeding, beginning at pregnancy and continuing through the teen years.

Dr. Yami has cumulatively enhanced her professional practices through a remarkably wide array of additional certifications and specialty trainings, such as:  Certified Health and Wellness Coach through National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching and Wellcoaches;  Certificate in Plant-based Nutrition through T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and eCornell;  Certified Food for Life Instructor through Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine;  and Plant-Based Professional Certification through Rouxbe Cooking School.  In 2015, after serving as a pediatrician at two primary care sites in central Washington state, she opened her own pediatric micro-practice, Nourish Wellness, in Yakima, Washington
continuing her passionate and supportive promotion of healthy lifestyles.

In 2013, Dr. Yami founded VeggieFitKids.com to educate families about the importance of making healthy food choices, with emphasis on 
plant-based nutrition, and showing how easy this can be despite typically busy schedules.  She also hosts the popular weekly podcast Veggie Doctor Radio, boasting listeners from 96 countries and nearly half a million downloads to date, joining other leading experts in plant-based nutrition and healthy living, to explore diet and nutrition, healthy habit formation, behavior change and motivation.  She lives with her husband and two active sons in Yakima, where locally she founded the Vegetarians of Yakima meetup and previously was co-founder and Co-Chair of the Yakima Health and Wellbeing Coalition.  She speaks to a variety of audiences about the power of nutrition and lifestyle choices, and more information about her is found at DoctorYami.com.
