Continuing Education Credits, May-June-October 2022

We are pleased to offer affordable opportunities for health professionals.  Below on this page we show a quick view of 2022 continuing education credits for each separate conference, followed by a detailed view of 2022 continuing education credits for each different type of practitioner or credential.  Partial attendance would result in pro-rating of credits.  [Elsewhere, 2022 Core Topic Areas may be viewed HERE, speakers may be viewed HERE, and general information is HERE.]

To receive continuing education credits you must register for the conference with the "Physicians" or "Other Professionals" option, not with the “General Public” or “Students and Medical Residents” option.

Detailed Disclosures, 2022 Continuing Education Credits for Each Kind of Practitioner/Credential

Continuing Medical Education (CME):  13 (May or June) or 15 (October) AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits™ approved -- Participants must provide birth date during registration or otherwise, and must claim credits within 60 days after event.

The May 21-22, June 25-26 and October 22-23 P-POD Conferences in 2022 have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ by St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor.  These conference activities are designated for a maximum of 13 (for May or June) or 15 (for October)  AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for full participation.

St. Joseph Mercy Health System is accredited by the Michigan State Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians, and is accredited at ACCME's highest level, Accreditation with Commendation.  Credits are awarded to physicians, and recognizable (subject to their own credentialing requirements) for physician assistants, nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives.  Some state boards recognize these credits for pharmacists, optometrists or certified registered nurse anesthetists.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

13 (May or June) or 15 (October) Credit Hour Certificate of Attendance approved-- Participants must provide birth date during registration or otherwise, and must claim credits within 60 days after event.

St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor also can provide a comparable Certificate of Attendance to some participants in these activities from professions such as social work for which the CME / CPEU / CNE credits described on this page may not apply directly.  Participants should confirm that their professional body would accept this (or would instead accept the AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ certificate described above).  Certificate of Attendance for these conference activities would reflect a maximum of 13 (for May or June) or 15 (for October) credits and contact hours for full participation.

(AAFP pending 15 credits for October)  Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians.  Determination of credit is pending.

ABLM, for in-person conferences only:  13 hours (May or June) or 15 hours (October) approved for In-person CME requirement in Lifestyle Medicine, for ABLM/ACLM Diplomate credentialing and examination.

The American Board of Lifestyle Medicine has now approved every P-POD Conference since 2018 for satisfying its 10-hour "In-person CME" prerequisite for candidates for its annual Lifestyle Medicine certifying examination (credentialing for Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine or Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, as applicable to physicians, nurses, dietitians and other practitioners/professionals).  That exam for 2022 is scheduled for dates beginning Nov. 26, and ABLM's rigid deadline to register for it is Sept. 30.  ABLM specifically recognizes for its credentialing purposes the 13 (for May or June) or 15 (for October) AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits™ approved for the three IN-PERSON (not virtual-option) P-POD conferences in 2022.

P-POD is producing three of the seven U.S. conferences qualified for the ABLM/ACLM examination's In-person CME prerequisite, as described above.  For the first two COVID-19 years 2020 and 2021, ABLM made an emergency exception, and allowed virtual conferences to meet its In-person CME requirement, but for 2022 it has very clearly and specifically returned to the normal policies of honoring fully-qualified in-person conferences only.

For persons who are already Lifestyle Medicine Diplomates:  If you are using the Maintenance of Certification plan that requires 30 Continuing Medical Education credits in the 5 years after your credentialing, then the CME credits approved for ALL P-POD Conferences (in-person OR virtual) will count toward your 30 hour requirement.  You may view detailed info about the three P-POD Lifestyle Medicine conferences HERE (also reachable always at lifestylemed.p-pod.org).
