Lodging
P-POD is emphasizing use of our optional WALKING-DISTANCE on-campus housing for registrants not from the local area, for economy, ease of access and potentially greater sense of a P-POD community. Please see our link above regarding the campus apartments that may be booked as part of our regular online registration process.
University charges per day for parking a car at the campus housing site may also be prepaid during P-POD registration.
Possible Hotel Option
We highlight use of walking-distance campus apartments, above, but the Ypsilanti / Ann Arbor area does offer a variety of well-rated hotels. For our in-person conferences, we try to identify 2 or 3 hotels that are rated at least at 4 stars out of 5 in Tripadvisor reviews, that will offer an affordable P-POD special rate, and ideally that can provide some shuttle services to and from our conference site. We are now in the process of negotiating with hotels for this purpose for 2021. Information about the hotels we do end up recommending, will be posted later on this page. We expect that any hotels recommended for this event will be located 7 to 10 miles from our conference site.
Transportation
Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), 9000 Middlebelt Rd., Romulus MI 48174 (also referenced as I-94 exit 198, William Rogell Drive, Detroit MI 48242), is 18.8 miles from the conference site (EMU Student Center) and from our optional campus housing at Putnam or The Village. The airport is served by Michigan Green Cars, 2 certified taxi companies, and a local bus that connects with Ann Arbor 8 times daily. Please note that a rental car is unnecessary at P-POD if you stay at on-campus housing.
DTW is served by 20 major and minor airlines, the principal 12 of which are listed in this directory.
Ann Arbor is also accessible via Amtrak train, and its station is closer to Ypsilanti than are those for Detroit or Dearborn. See station location. For schedule/route information for these cities, please see "Michigan Services" on this page.
