P-POD is emphasizing use of our optional WALKING-DISTANCE on-campus housing for registrants not from the local area, for economy, ease of access and potentially greater sense of a P-POD community. Possible Hotel Options
We highlight use of walking-distance campus apartments, above, but Raleigh does offer a variety of highly-rated hotels. In past years, we have arranged with several to offer a special rate to P-POD registrants. The greatest limitation is that we have previously not been able to arrange hotel shuttle service to the conference from more than one or two hotels. We are now in the process of negotiating with hotels for our 2021 Raleigh event, and will post here the rates and details for any that we find suitable for our attendees. Please note that since 2014 we have only contracted with hotels that are rated at least at 4 stars out of 5 in Tripadvisor reviews. Also, hotels who provide a special P-POD rate will only guarantee the rate and the availability up to a certain cutoff date for making bookings, generally 3 to 4 weeks before the event. Past hotels have been located 2.5 to 5.5 miles from our conference site.
Travel & Parking
Transportation
Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), 2400 Terminal Blvd., Morrisville NC 27560-9217, is 12.5 miles from the conference center and from our optional lodging site, Wolf Village Apartments, 2730 Wolf Village Way, Raleigh NC 27607. The airport is served by car share, regulated-rate taxi and local bus. Please note that a rental car is unnecessary if you stay at on-campus housing.
RDU is served by the airlines Air Canada, Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Spirit, Southwest and United.

Parking
Parking at our conference site, McKimmon Conference Center, is free and plentiful. If you are staying in our walking-distance campus apartments, parking is free at the apartment site from 5 pm Friday through 7 am Monday. Outside of these hours, the rate is $10/day, which may be paid in advance during the housing part of our online registration process. To avoid parking charges during metered hours, you may move your car to McKimmon Conference Center.
