Linda Carney, MD completed her MD degree at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, and her residency in Emergency Medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center, in the 1980’s.  She is doubly board-certified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine, and practices Lifestyle Medicine in her private rural family practice near Austin TX.  She enjoys mentoring young employees and interns who aspire to become nurse practitioners, physician assistants and medical assistants, as well as physicians.  Many of her employees adopt a plant-based lifestyle as they witness the successes of her patients in reversing disease conditions.

Dr. Carney served as the Medical Director for the first seven of Rip Esselstyn’s Engine 2 Immersions for the team members of Whole Foods Market, lecturing and coaching for the participants as well, while guiding them through reduction of their medication doses.  In these oil-free whole-food plant-based seminars, she also oversaw the collection/measurement of biomarkers, compiling data that was reflected in statistics published in Rip Esselstyn’s best-selling book, Seven-Day Rescue Diet.  As a co-founder of www.ATXalive.com, she promotes oil-free vegan restaurant events, cooking demonstrations and free scientifically-based health presentations at monthly PlantPure Communities potlucks in Austin, TX.
                                            
Dr. Carney became vegetarian at age 9 (thanks to a new vegetarian step-dad), and vegan at age 36 (thanks to Dr. Hans Diehl, founder of the Complete Health Improvement Program, for whom she became a volunteer).  She educates about health promotion and plant-based nutrition via lecturing, media interviews, podcasts, websites and articles.  She has lectured in online seminars such as PlantPure Summit, Chef AJ’s Real Truth About Weight Loss, and Jul Nov’s Plant SuperPowers Summit.  She blogs regularly on www.DrCarney.com, where more than 1000 scientific abstracts of studies supporting plant-based lifestyles may be viewed.   Her seminars, videos and contact are managed through www.Veggievore.com.  She also wrote a regular ongoing column for VegWorld Magazine called “Well Woman Way”, which later branched out beyond women’s health into “Dr. Carney’s Prescriptions for Health”.
