M. Elizabeth Swenor, DO DipABLM has 20 years of clinical practice experience and is multiply board certified in Family Medicine, Functional, Regenerative and Metabolic Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine and Aesthetics Medicine.  She received her Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, and a Master of Arts education degree from Michigan State University, and completed her residency in Family Medicine in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  She is currently the Medical Director of the Lifestyle, Integrative and Functional Medicine Department at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit.  
 

Dr. Swenor's clinical focus areas include chronic diseases, gut and microbiome health, weight loss management, regenerative and anti-aging medicine, and plant-based nutrition, and her practice encompasses all demographics and patient populations.   She believes passionately in patient-centered care and education that supports empowerment for self-improvement.  Her work emphasizes evidence-based lifestyle and functional medicine approaches to promoting and optimizing wellness while preventing, treating or reversing chronic disease.  She professes that reducing whole body stress and inflammation, and providing a foundation of  plant-based nutrition, can lead to correction of metabolic imbalances and enhancement of overall health.

Dr. Swenor has earned a Certificate in Plant-based Nutrition from T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and eCornell, and a Physician Health Coach Certification from the Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP).  She is a board member of the Michigan based Plant Based Nutrition Support Group (PBNSG).
