Sherene Chou, MS RDN presents as a member of the Speakers Bureau of the Vegetarian Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Sherene is an award-winning dietitian and chef focused on building a more equitable and sustainable food system through the intersection of plant-based nutrition, food and social justice.  She has collaborated with national brands and institutions to build innovative programs that focus on culinary nutrition and community empowerment.  She is a Past Chair of the Vegetarian Nutrition Dietetic Practice Group in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and serves on the Advisory Committee for the Teaching Kitchen Collaborative.

Sherene co-developed the first Culinary Medicine course for Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, and the Certificate of Training in Sustainable Food Systems for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  In 2020, she co-founded Food + Planet, an initiative to empower one million healthcare professionals to transform the food system, and was featured in New York Times coverage about the importance of diversifying healthcare.

Sherene has received multiple honors, such as:  in 2017, Excellence in Hunger and Environmental Nutrition Leadership Award from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics;  in 2018, Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Teaching Contributions from Keck School of Medicine;  in 2019, named as one of 10 RDs Making a Difference by Today’s Dietitian Magazine;  and most recently, named as a Woman Leader by the Vegan Women Summit as part of Impossible Foods' Women Building the Future campaign.  You can follow her work at @eatsustainablefoods on Instagram.
